Introduction
Over the past three decades America’s childhood obesity rates have tripled! If this problem goes unsolved, one third of all children born in 2000 or later will suffer from diabetes at some point in their lives. Many others will face chronic obesity-related health problems like heart disease, high blood pressure, cancer, and asthma.
Students, it is up to you to determine what makes a healthy snack or meal. Choosing healthy foods now can lead to life long food habits that can benefit your overall health and help you to lead a healthy and happy life.
It is up to you!

The Process
Here are a list of questions to assist you with your WebQuery assignment
What websites would be most helpful for you to find information for your “Choosing Healthy Snacks and Meals” poster?
Is it a good idea to use more than one website?
Is it a good idea to write down the facts as you find them?
Is it a good idea to find more than five facts and choose the best five later?
Is it a good idea to have information about each fact so you can expand on the facts during your poster presentation?
Is is a good idea to write this information down under each fact?
When looking for facts some things you could ask your self?
What makes something healthy?
What do I look for on the packaging?
If not in a package, what do I look for? (mold? rotting? how old is it?)
When I look at a food label what is most important to look at?
How many vegetables a day should I eat?
How many fruits a day should I eat?
What are grains?
How many grains should I eat?
Does the amount of something that I eat matter?
Are there similar items that you could eat instead that are more nutritious? (water over sodapop, whole grain bread over white bread)
How do we want our poster to look?
Do we want to add pictures to our poster?
Do we want to only have the five facts on the poster or do we want to add information under the facts?
Did we include our names on the poster?
Did we use our best handwriting?
Can you see the words when standing farther away from the poster?
Does the poster look ready for a presentation?
Did we do our best work on our poster?
